Bougainville House of Representatives Gains International Recognition

The political leaders of the Bougainville House of Representatives have been gaining international recognition for their efforts. The Clerk of Parliament, Mr. Robert Tapi, expressed his gratitude towards the Speaker Hon. Simon Pentanu, and Deputy Speaker Hon. Therese Kaetavara for representing their region on a global level. Speaking to the Staff of Parliament, Mr. Tapi shared the Deputy Speaker’s experience of being honored to speak on behalf of participants at the “Pacific Women Leaders Forum” held in Auckland, New Zealand, along with four other women leader representatives: Honorable Carolyne Poli MHoR, Honorable Theonila Matbob MHoR, Honorable Fransica Semoso MP, and Honorable Rufina Peter MP. Despite being a regional Parliament, Bougainville holds a significant place in the international community due to its unique journey.

The Clerk recognized the dedication and hard work put forth by the leaders in promoting not only the House of Representatives but also the Autonomous Bougainville Government and its people. He expressed his appreciation for Mr. Thomas Iobo’s support, which has been instrumental in facilitating these crucial international engagements. The increased recognition of the Bougainville House of Representatives on the global stage reflects their commitment to fostering strong relationships with other nations and working together to address shared common challenges.
