Added sugar is a major cause of unhealthy weight gain. As delicious and tempting as they are, foods like candy, soda, and baked goods are packed with added sugars. Thus, if you can eliminate foods high in added sugars, then you`d be losing weight in no time. Protein is slowly digestible and works to suppress hunger hormones, thus, keeping you feeling full. When preparing your breakfast, make sure to add protein-rich foods. A simple modification like swapping a bowl of cereal for scrambled eggs and sauteed veggies can go a long way in helping you shed pounds. Plus, having a protein-rich meal in the morning can help avoid unhealthy snacking and enhance appetite control throughout the day. The problem with liquid calories is that they don`t make you feel full the same way real food does. Downing a glass of orange juice just isn`t as satisfying as eating a bowl of veggie protein-packed stir fry. Even sports drinks, flavored waters, and coffee beverages are high in calories, not to mention tend to have added sugar and preservatives. In fact, juice, often promoted as a healthy drink, can cause weight gain when taken too much. Eating homemade meals has been shown to promote weight loss and healthy eating. That said, eating more meals made at home is a great way to keep that scale number in check. Speaking of cooking your own meals, a great way to help you feel satisfied is to boost a food`s flavor through spices. Losing weight doesn`t have to feel like a punishment. Adding spices and herbs to a dish is an excellent way to elevate its flavor. Additionally, food rich in flavor will stimulate the taste buds and be more satisfying, so you end up not eating as much. Unfortunately, a lot of people get only half the fiber they need despite fiber being found in healthy foods including veggies, fruits, beans, and whole grains. According to studies, eating more fiber-rich food can help lose weight and keep it off. Some good sources of fiber include beans, oatmeal, nuts, whole grain foods, and most fruits and veggies. 7. Eat protein at every meal. Protein is your best bud if you want to lose weight. It`s like the ultimate fill-me-up nutrient, even more, satisfying than carbs or fats, thus, keeping you feeling full for longer. So, aside from having protein at breakfast, we recommend consuming protein foods at every meal as well. Some healthy protein-rich foods are quinoa, eggs, beans, yogurt, cheese, poultry, meat, and fish. Before you have your meal, drink a glass of water first. Often, we confuse thirst with hunger, so we end up eating additional calories than needed when in fact we just need an ice-cold glass of water. Skipping meals is actually a big no when it comes to weight loss.
