It was hard but worth every bit of sweat. I'm not doing any diet but eating whatever the fam is eating, as I figured, when i dieted before, I lost the weight fast but when it came to SLOWLY incorporating the regular foods back into my regimen, I missed them so much, LOL, I added them back in too quickly and gained all the weight back plus more; so this time I'm taking my time to take it off and make the workout a part of my routine instead. It's slower but more effective. It took me 3 years of NO exercise to get to where I was so it'll probably take that long to get where I want to be. :) Food: --------- eating in a smaller plate or bowl using olive oil or canola oil real butter instead of margarine no diet drinks real sugar no substitutes no sweets during the week only on Sat. and Sun. but I've done it so long my body's stopped the sugar cravings and I hardly eat sweets now. Very happy about that cuz it was like a drug! LOL! Working out: ---------------- I tricked my body as I was sedentary for 3 years, so I decided since I don't like working out to make it think it was doing hard labor! So I started working out only 25 mins, 3 days per week which yielded at first 1 mile then 2 miles (swift walking). When i started with my Sis. in Sept 2010 I could barely do a mile in the park! LOl! Then we started to add lunges at the end of our walk, we started with 20 then it went from one half of a pavilion/building to the other. When she started back working I turned to my gazelle and kept adding 10 mins until now, I'm at 3 miles in under one hour. I've not done any crunches or situps just my gazelle. I love that thing! I'm continuing on my journey... I started at size 24 and now in 16-18 (because of those hips LOL!) I don't own a scale and don't care about the numbers just going by my clothing and pictures. By combining both you are helping your body burn calories more effectively AND keeping your metabolism running high by building more - or simply maintaining your existing- metabolically active lean muscle mass. Many of our workouts here on JESSICASMITHTV focus on combining the two into 1 efficient workout so you don't even have to separate them. To wrap up, it's important to note all of your workouts - resistance training or aerobics - won't produce any weight or fat loss if you don't also pair them with a healthy diet that includes a caloric deficit. One of the easiest places to start is to aim to cut out about 250 calories a day from your typical diet (skip the last 5 bites of a meal, swap out that afternoon snack, etc) and burn 250 with exercise (depending on the intensity of the movement and your fitness level, this can translate to about 30-60 minutes of physical activity, or a shorter, more intensive workout).
