The term ‘fat burning’ often gets thrown around & people assume it is the same thing as fat loss, it is NOT. Fat burning or fat oxidation (scientific term) are part of the process of losing body fat. You see, fat is stored in adipose tissue mostly as triacylglycerides. These stored TAGs must undergo lipolysis where the glycerol molecule & 3 fatty acid tails are cleaved from each other & released. Then those free fatty acids can undergo a process called beta-oxidation (I’m skipping over quite a few steps here to keep it simple) where the fats are oxidized. But fat burning does not occur in isolation. Fats are constantly being released from adipose tissue & burned but fats are also simultaneously being stored in adipose tissue. The simple equation looks something like this: Fat Balance = Rate of Fat Storage - Rate of Fat Burning So if Fat Storage more than Fat Burning, body fat is gained If Fat Storage is less than Fat Burning, body fat is lost If Fat Storage = Fat Burning, there is no change in body fat Low carb diets often claim superiority over other diets because they cause a large increase in fat burning. That is true, but it only tells one side of the story. You see, less than 2% of dietary carbohydrate is stored as body fat, & over 98% of fat stored in body fat originates as dietary fat (PMID: 8675642). Since carbs don’t have a storage form, they must be preferentially burned, which reduces fat burning So on a high carb, low fat diet, you don’t burn much fat, but you also don’t store much fat On a low carb, high fat diet, you burn a lot of fat but you also store a lot of fat. What determines overall fat loss or gain will be energy balance, how many calories you consume vs. how many you expend. The full body exercises require you to use your core as well which is great. Also doing full body workout helps you burn so much more, and your body will still burn while you're at rest. Basically full body workout like squats, lunges, etc require you to use your leg muscles, and leg muscles are the biggest muscle groups in our body so working these muscles will allow you to burn more calories, even when you are at rest your body will still be burning. Also I was going to add moving plank instead of plank twist but i was so awkward doing it so i changed it up. Feel free to change to your favourite plank exercise. You can also always intensify any of these exercises but doing it faster, or do a bigger movement. It was my first time doing it in the video and it was definitely quite intense for me. I felt so good after doing a few sessions and the abs will show! Please do it more consistently if you have lots of belly fat. Give yourself a month or so. But if you have minimal fats, it won't take you long. You can alternate between this exercise and my other intense abs workout. I'll recommend to do 2 or 3 times a week depending on how sore you are too. Muscles definitely need to rest and recover so give yourself a day in between your abs workout! Losing body fat is not using some mystical or magical formula. There are just basic choices that I will go over for you to implement. You can take control and reduce your body fat to look better, build confidence and self-esteem, and feel better about yourself. Everything in your life will get better. Here are the steps to getting to 15% body fat or lower The first thing you need to do is stop blaming yourself and stop making excuses. Life is hard, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't prioritize yourself. Next, prioritize yourself by being incredibly selfish about your diet and fitness. Find time and prioritize yourself because it won't work if you don't. You need to know where you're starting from, so you need to get body fat calipers. Don't bother with the digital ones, as they don't work. The calipers will tell you exactly where to take the measurements, which three are a priority. Make sure you measure your chest, abs, and thigh. Love handles are a second. Write these down, and as you lose, you'll have a great visual representation in real time, millimeter by millimeter. Also, hop on a scale so you know where you're starting from with your weight. The scale isn't necessarily the only way to tell what's happening with your body, so the body fat percentage is the most important. You'll know what's happening to your body fat and lean muscle mass with a simple calculation. Once a week, check and record your changes. Take pictures of where you're starting. You can track your progress from images to the side, front, and back. Calculate your basal metabolic rate, which is the number of calories you need to maintain your current body weight.
