All’interno dei fiori sono presenti più di 100 principi attivi, anche detti cannabinoidi, che sono in grado di agire attivamente sul sistema endocannabinoide presente nel nostro organismo. Tra questi, da sempre al centro di un controverso dibattito troviamo il THC o tetraidrocannabidiolo, responsabile dell’effetto “psicotropo” o “drogante” delle infiorescenze di canapa. La presenza di rilevanti percentuali di THC sancisce la differenza tra cannabis light ed illegale: la legale possiede percentuali molto basse, non sufficienti a causare un effetto psicotropo e produrre quindi lo “sballo” tipico della illegale. La legge 242 del 2016 ha infatti sancito come limite massimo una percentuale di THC dello 0,6% in campo agricolo, mentre leggermente più basso (0,5%) per la vendita al consumatore finale.
